Hello, my name is Cyprien

Or here’s the way I’d really present myself: “Hi, my name is Cyp, like a sip!” 😉

Hello, friend!

My name is Cyprien Clerc, I am curious, and my interests are quite diverse: IT, Music Production, Podcasting, Event organization, Health & Wellbeing, …

My IT career is “non-linear”. I’ve been an employee for big and small companies, and have also enjoyed many years of freelancing. I have studied software development as well as IT security, and have across multiple industries: web agencies, software companies, insurances, hospitals, universities and R&D centers, …

In the FutureSeeds project, I explore my interest in humanities, ecology, community, and spirituality. Through my podcast and events (small networking events + conferences), I try and share the amazing people and projects that are actively working to make the world a better place.

Music is a big passion of mine. The piano has been my teacher in ways that I am still discovering. I believe musical expression and all artistic expressions for that matter are underrated. To be able to play music is to be able to communicate using a non-verbal language, the primordial language of emotions. Every story is made of an environment and a dialog. Music tells a story. Songs are stories in which rhythm describes the environment and harmony the dialog. Being able to speak in a non-verbal language is an incredibly liberating experience for the mind.

Old jazz (1920s, 1930s) and reggae are styles I particularly enjoy. I’ve had the chance to play with the band Fyah Walk in 2013, and am one the founders of the 4’20’ Sound in Byron Bay (Australia) and we have been holding a weekly reggae event since 2014 now known as the biggest regular reggae event in the southern hemisphere. In 2016 I was DJing and organizing the SwingUp electro-swing events in conjunction with jazz dancers. I’ve started producing tracks in 2016 when my passion for music met my passion for IT and was introduced to Ableton Live. Today I’ve produced tracks in styles as various as lo-fi, voodoo-hop, chillstep, electro-swing, cuban music and dub.

The mind

My relationship to health is always evolving. As everyone’s journey has to start somewhere, mine started with the mind. In 2009 I became obsessed with Yoga but especially the meditation side of it. Meditation has many recognized health benefits, and although at the time I was not interested in reading about the scientific acknowledgment of those benefits, I could feel it in my body. And so the mind-body connection became a central question which my thoughts revolved around.

The body

Finally, in 2016 I decided to go into the physical side of things through massage studies and loved it so much that I continued my training and completed the Diploma of Remedial Massage (1.5 years in total). I became passionate about it. Massage is an art, and remedial massage is as close as you can get to combining science and art. It uses modern medical findings to apply particular techniques and strategies to a hand-on-hand treatment. The nerd in me could not help it though, I felt compelled to bring biofeedback devices into the picture and wrote my diploma thesis on “the effect of different massage techniques” as observed by the HeartMath emWave2 (heart rate variability) and Muse headset (EEG).
